A look at what’s happening in European soccer on Saturday:ENGLANDAfter a slew of off-field issues at the start of the season, Manchester United needs to focus on results as it returns to action with a home game against Brighton in the Premier League. Issues regarding Mason Greenwood, Antony and Jadon Sancho have cast a shadow over the opening weeks of a campaign that has seen United lose two of its first four games. Brighton beat United home and away last season, so there is the potential for another setback for manager Erik ten Hag. Wolverhampton hosts Liverpool in the early kickoff, while league leader and defending champion Manchester City travels to West Ham. Newcastle has lost its last three games in the league and hosts Brentford in the late game. ITALYSerie A returns with a bang after the international break as the Milan derby features the only squads with perfect starts. BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — When Jay Norvell threw shade at Deion Sanders for wearing sunglasses during interviews, Coach Prime responded by handing out some of his signature shades.Sanders passed out pairs of Prime 21 sunglasses to his players during a team meeting — “I just want to see how y'all look in 'em. You look good!” — and then gave some to the hosts of ESPN's “First Take” and “The Pat McAfee Show” to wear on set Friday. Are Colorado sports on a winning streak? “College GameDay” is broadcasting this weekend from Boulder, where Sanders has led the Buffaloes to a No. 18 ranking and a 2-0 start after taking a 1-11 team and bringing in more than 80 new players. They kicked off the season with an upset at TCU over the national runners-up and then walloped Nebraska last weekend. Before big games at Oregon and against USC, Colorado hosts Colorado State (0-1) on Saturday night, and during his weekly radio show, Norvell took a swipe at Sanders' habit of wearing his cap and sunglasses du...Trump says he discussed pardoning himself but dismissed option

(CNN) — Former President Donald Trump said Thursday that he discussed pardoning himself in the final days of his presidency but dismissed the option to do so.“I could’ve pardoned myself. Do you know what? I was given an option to pardon myself. I could’ve pardoned myself when I left. People said, ‘Would you like to pardon yourself?’ I had a couple of attorneys that said, ‘You could do it if you want.’ I had some people that said, ‘It would look bad if you do it, because I think it would look terrible,’ ” Trump told NBC News.“I said, ‘The last thing I’d ever do is give myself a pardon,’” the former president said. While Trump wasn’t charged with any crimes while in office, he has since been indicted four times. He faces a total of 91 charges in four criminal cases – two federal and two state cases – in four different jurisdictions. The front-runner for the 2024 Republican nomination, Trump told NBC’s Kristen Welker that it is “very unlikely” that he would pardon himself if he wins a se...Gusty winds, 10-foot waves, coastal flooding expected along North and South Shores of Mass.

Residents on both the North and South Shores of Massachusetts are preparing for the incoming tropical storm as Hurricane Lee approaches New England. In Marshfield, residents were taking in the strong winds at the beach. Over the last few days, people have been getting boats out of the water and preparing their properties close to the water for strong winds. “Just come check it out before the storm and enjoy the windy weather,” Matt Leighton said. “It’s going to be pretty rough, I’d say.”“I love it, I really do. It’s the best thing ever,” Robin Leahy said.“I think it’s pretty intense. I just moved here and just seeing the ocean and the power and the intensity is awesome, the power of waves and wind,” said Camile Leigton. “Pictures don’t do it justice.”Local officials are warning of possible coastal flooding and power outages as well. People in Gloucester on the North Shore are also preparing as wind and waves pick up overnight. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is setting up base in Western Massachusetts as they urge people to prepare for the tropical storm hitting Massachusetts.Hurricane Lee, as of Friday morning, is forecast to pass roughly 150 miles east of Chatham as a category one hurricane on Saturday before possibly making landfall in Nova Scotia Saturday afternoon. “Complacency cannot happen here,” a FEMA spokesperson said. “We want people to be prepared.”A FEMA official said they chose Westover Air Reserve Base, which is about 500 miles outside the area that Lee could possibly affect. However, it’s close enough that trucks can respond within a day.At least 35 trucks are expected to arrive carrying water, tarps, food, blankets and other emergency supplies. FEMA will decide where exactly to send the trucks after Lee sweeps through the area.“Hope for the best but prepare for the worst, and the only way that happens is if you’re getting alerts on time, listening for evacuation wa...Bello strikes out 10, but Red Sox shut down in 3-0 loss to Blue Jays

In the end, one mistake made the difference.Brayan Bello was excellent throughout his outing Friday, tallying a career-high 10 strikeouts while largely keeping the Toronto Blue Jays on their heels. The one exception came with two outs and a man on in the third, when Bello failed to close out the inning and walked Bo Bichette. That brought up Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and the Blue Jays slugger made Bello pay.Guerrero’s three-run home run gave Toronto the lead and Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios made sure it held up, shutting the Red Sox down to hand Boston a 3-0 loss. Berrios struck out eight over seven shutout innings, and the Red Sox once again failed to capitalize on their opportunities, going hitless with runners in scoring position for the third time this week. The home run aside, Friday was yet another encouraging step forward for Bello. The right-hander in his second-year has been a major bright spot in what has otherwise been a disappointing year for the Red Sox, and ...Marcus Stroman is back with the Chicago Cubs and will pitch out of the bullpen — for now: ‘I’m good to go’

Marcus Stroman is back and determined to do what he can to help the Chicago Cubs reach the postseason. The Cubs activated the right-hander from the injured list before Friday’s series opener in Arizona and optioned right-hander Daniel Palencia to Triple-A Iowa.Stroman will be used out of the bullpen — at least for now — as he continues to build up. He threw three innings and about 45 pitches in his last live batting practice Monday at the team’s complex in Mesa, Ariz.“I want them to be able to use me in whatever role and help the team, not necessarily force me into starting rotation,” Stroman said Friday. “I know I can start and contribute in that way. I’m going to be a starter for the rest of my career. But in this instance, I don’t want to push anyone out. I want it to blend and mix and use me to my best ability.”A week after suffering a right rib cartilage fracture Aug. 13 in Toronto, Stroman received a cortisone shot. He...Latest news
